CTO mission for a startup making a connected communication device for kids aged 3 to 12, with a companion mobile app for parents and contacts.

ESME × WoMa · Engineering workshop
Led first- and second-year engineering students through a luminous-object prototyping module — LED strips, sensors, actuators around an Arduino board. 12 sessions, 4 groups.
Studio Quiproquo · Solid-wood column speaker
Embedded support for a designer studio building a solid-wood column speaker with metal hardware. Shown at the Révélations 2025 fair.
Jaune Studio · Connected lamp-speakers
Co-founded and led tech at a startup making connected lamp-speakers for 4/5-star hotels, interior architects, and later retail. Five years, from breadboard to Le Bon Marché.
Akoustic Arts · Ultra-directional speaker
A year and a half leading C firmware on TI MSP430 for an ultra-directional speaker — class-D amps, DSP, IR remote receiver, RGB LED. Routed the transducer board and joined hardware design reviews.
Kien · Voice-assistant speaker prototype
End-of-studies internship prototyping a connected speaker with voice assistants (Alexa, Google Home). Electronics, soldering, embedded firmware.

Embedded software
Firmware from scratch on ESP32 and MSP430. C, C++, Python. Drivers, BLE/WiFi/MQTT stacks, OTA, low-power. Linux/Yocto on Raspberry Pi when the workload demands it.
Electronics & PCB
Schematic, routing, prototyping, soldering, bench testing. Eagle / Fusion 360. Production handoff and lab certification when it gets that serious.
IoT backend & cloud
FastAPI, Flask, MongoDB. AWS (EC2, ElasticBeanstalk, IoT Core, Lightsail) and GCP. MQTT brokers, OTA infra with Mender. Coordinating freelancers when the project is big enough to need a team.
Mobile companion apps
Flutter for iOS and Android. The BLE pairing flow, the OTA trigger, the screen that earns the device its keep. Hands-on or coordinating a specialist.
Fractional CTO
Tech direction for early-stage hardware startups. Architecture, hiring, vendor selection, fundraising prep. The role I held at Jaune Studio, scoped to your needs.

About
I'm Yoann, a freelance CTO based in Paris. I work where software meets hardware: electronics, embedded firmware, IoT backend, and the mobile apps that make it all visible.
Before going freelance, I co-founded Jaune Studio, where I led tech for five years on connected lamp-speakers — PCB to backend, soldering iron to Maison & Objet. Two years before that, at Akoustic Arts, I shipped firmware for an ultra-directional speaker.
I lean towards projects with intent — childhood, education, women's empowerment, craft. But good engineering isn't picky; if you value it, I'm interested.
